It was Saturday. I was very sleep deprived after a loooong week in work. I'd been given a talk to do at lunchtime and was heading into another day of work on Sunday. Basically, I was out of sorts and difficult to impress. The weather was nasty-grey and drizzly. Everything pretty much conspired to guarantee the Point Village Market a bad review.....except it was great!
Saturday was only the first day of this market but it was buzzing. I can't possibly go through all the different stalls that were there because they were just too varied and numerous. You can buy pretty much everything-clothes, books, CDs, art and every kind of food. A lovely idea is the stalls for students to sell their stuff. It's great that everybody gets a go!
Special mention from my first trip:
-Just Food: Organic vegetarian food made in Cobh, Co.Cork. They had loads of samples and were so so friendly too. This led to me buying more houmous and bean salad despite having a fridge full of M&S stuff already! They also had tasty soups etc. Num!
-Lolly & Cooks cupcakes and baked goods... Raspberry and coconut mini cupcake. Divine.
-Daisy Chain cupcakes. Very good chocolate cupcake, vanilla not great but very cutely decorated. Will review separately!
-Wilde Irish chocolates. His products are delicious-great chocolate, fudges and rocky roads. I'm a bit worried by the fact that he now knows my face though. I think I'm eating too much chocolate.
-Pieminister: delicious looking pies
-Bretzel bakery
-Real Olive Company
-Ali the psychic from the Star!
There are just too many to list with many hot food options, cheeses, organic bakeries, vegan bread and cakes....along with cookery demonstrations and a little fairground.
Don't take my word for it-just go! There are no excuses...plenty of parking, accessible by Luas and by boat. It's the perfect weekend activity :-)
